Delicious Cast Iron Skillet – Sweet Corn Bread Recipe
Your ingredients:
1 cup flour
1 cup yellow cornmeal
3/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 1/4 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 egg
1 cup milk
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Put oil in the bottom of a 10 inch cast iron skillet and preheat it while mixing the ingredients.
Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl.
Mix the liquids in a separate bowl the add to the dry ingredients.
Remove the cast iron skillet from oven & pour in the mixture. Some of the oil in bottom of the skillet will come over the sides but this gives a little crunch to the corn bread.
Bake in a 400 degree oven for about 25 minutes .

the cast iron skillet is the best for corn bread and pineapple upside down cake. Of course I am old school…

I use a very similar recipe but have never tried it in a cast iron skillet. Will have to do that next time!! Would love to have a photo with this recipe so i could pin it.
